Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday demanded Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to step down immediately. The opposition party has made this demand in the backdrop of the Enforcement Directorate attaching 142 immovable properties of MUDA.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday said it has provisionally attached 142 immovable properties with a market value of around Rs 300 crore under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PML) 2002 in connection with the case registered against Siddaramaiah and others. Is Rs.
The ED said the attached properties were registered in the names of various persons who were working as real estate businessmen and agents.
BJP state president B.Y. “If Chief Minister Siddaramaiah values the sanctity of his office, he should immediately step down and allow an impartial investigation,” Vijayendra said in a post on ‘X’. The people of Karnataka deserve transparency, accountability and justice.
The BJP MLA from Shikaripura has termed it a major victory in the fight against the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam.
Explaining the MUDA scam, the ED said, “The allegation is that Siddamayya, in exchange for three acres 16 guntas of land acquired by the authority, gave it to his wife B.M. Political influence has been used to get compensation for 14 plots in Parvati’s name.
The investigating agency said, “This land was originally acquired by the authority for Rs 3,24,700. The compensation is (approximately) Rs 56 crore in the form of 14 plots in a posh area.
The ED said the role of former MUDA commissioner D B Natesh has been proven to be crucial in the illegal allotment of compensation plots to Parvati.
Vijayendra alleged that the ED investigation has exposed significant corruption involving Siddaramaiah, who allegedly used his political influence to illegally allot plots in his wife’s name.
The state BJP chief said that when Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot gave sanction to prosecute Siddaramaiah, “Congress left no stone unturned to insult and weaken the constitutional authority of the Governor.”
The Karnataka High Court has also upheld the Governor’s decision, he said, stressing that the allegations against the Chief Minister’s family need to be thoroughly investigated.
Praising the ED, Vijayendra said the investigating agency had “thwarted any malicious attempt by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to sabotage the investigation by misusing the government machinery.”
The BJP leader also said that the BJP and its ally JD(S) have been continuously protesting inside and outside the Assembly against “this blatant abuse of power by the Chief Minister and his supporters”.
