Seven Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs approached the Delhi High Court on Monday demanding the presentation in the Assembly of 14 reports of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) related to the city’s administration.
Senior counsel for the petitioners mentioned the matter before a bench of Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, which directed that it be listed for hearing under the ”normal procedure”.
This is the second petition filed by MLAs regarding the CAG report.
Senior counsel appearing for the petitioners said that despite the earlier writ petition filed on this issue, the government has not yet presented the 14 CAG reports before the Assembly.
When the bench asked why there was a need for an early hearing in the matter, the senior lawyer said that the assembly session would not be called after the elections were announced.
The court said, “This is the normal procedure.”
Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta and BJP MLAs Mohan Singh Bisht, Om Prakash Sharma, Ajay Kumar Mahawar, Abhay Verma, Anil Kumar Bajpai and Jitendra Mahajan had earlier filed a petition on the issue of presenting the CAG report before the Assembly.
