Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will remain in power at the center for at least 30 years due to its continuous performance.
Shah said that the victory of any party in democracy depends on its hard work and if it works hard day and night and “If you live not for yourself but for the country, then the victory will be yours.”
He said in ‘Times Now Summit 2025’ on Friday night, “When I was the national president of the BJP, I said that the BJP will remain in power for the next 30 years. Right now only 10 years have passed.
The senior BJP leader said that when a party performs well, it gets the trust of the public and the confidence of winning. He said, “But those who do not perform well, do not believe it.”
When asked about the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), the Home Minister said that UCC will be implemented one by one in all BJP-ruled states as it has been one of its major agenda since the formation of the BJP.
The Home Minister said that since its inception, the BJP’s resolve has been to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the country.
He said, “This will happen. This (implementing the Uniform Civil Code) was the decision of the Constituent Assembly. The Congress may have forgotten it but we have not forgotten. We had said that we will remove Article 370. We have done so. We had said that we will build a Ram temple in Ayodhya. We have also done that too. Now the Uniform Civil Code is left. We will do that too. ”
Shah said that the Uttarakhand government has already enacted a law to implement the Uniform Civil Code in the state.
He said, “One by one all BJP-ruled state governments will implement it. Gujarat has already constituted a committee for this. This is a continuous process. All states will implement it according to their convenience. ”
When asked about the High Court Judge Yashwant Verma’s residence in Delhi allegedly received a huge amount of cash, the Home Minister said that the Chief Justice of India has taken cognizance of the matter and ordered an inquiry into the matter (through a committee of three judges of the High Court).
He said, “We are cooperating in it. We should wait for the results of the committee constituted by the Chief Justice. ”
The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the PIL as “untimely”, requesting the Delhi Police to register an FIR for allegedly receiving large quantity of cash from Justice Verma’s government residence.
Shah said, “… FIR can be recorded only with the permission of the Chief Justice of India.”
Asked whether the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) intervenes in the functioning of the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Home Minister said that the BJP’s ideological source Sangh does not interfere.
He said, “RSS has been preparing patriots for the last 100 years. I have learned from the RSS how to keep patriotism at the center by keeping many dimensions together. There is no question of intervention. ”
Asked about the current situation of internal security, Shah said that he inherited three problems as the Union Home Minister: Naxalite violence, terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir and extremism in the Northeast.
He said, “In the last 10 years, 16,000 youth have surrendered in these three areas. It is my duty to bring peace in all these places as the Home Minister of the country. This is the priority of the Prime Minister and naturally it is my priority. Due to these problems, development was stopped at these places. ”
When asked about the government’s stand on the worship site (Special Provisions) Act, 1991, the Home Minister said that he does not want to comment on it as the matter is under consideration in the court.
He said, “I am sure that the Supreme Court will give appropriate order on it.” We will definitely follow the court order. ”
The Act banns the change in the religious form of any worship site. In this law, it is said to maintain the religious form of a place according to 15 August 1947. The dispute related to the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid issue in Ayodhya was excluded from its purview.
At this time the Supreme Court is considering several petitions challenging this Act.
Asked why the government has not yet filed an affidavit in the court on this subject, Shah said, “We will definitely file an affidavit.”
