Dehradun, Sep 23 (IANS) Uttarakhand unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahendra Bhatt on Monday claimed the BJP’s victory in the upcoming municipal elections, saying the Congress is sure to be wiped out this time.
He said, “We have formed committees regarding the municipal elections. Its announcement will be made soon. It will be announced after Navratri. Earlier also, the performance of BJP in municipal elections has been commendable and in future also our party will perform better. This time our party is going to hoist the victory flag on 100 percent seats. We have made complete preparations in this direction.”
He also expressed his views on the Kedarnath by-election. He said, “The party has made full preparations, this time we are going to hoist the flag of victory on this seat. Our workers are also working hard on the ground for this.”
Let us tell you that Uttarakhand Municipal elections can be held in the last week of October. Before the municipal elections, the efforts to convert Almora and Pithoragarh into municipal bodies have been intensified.
The tenure of Municipal Corporations, Nagar Palikas and Nagar Panchayats in the state ended on December 2 last year. After this, its reins were handed over to the body administrators till June 2.
Meanwhile, due to no elections, the government had extended its duration for three months. Now municipal elections can be held in the last week of October.
The work of delimitation of bodies and voter list will also be completed within the stipulated time frame. Clear instructions have been given by the government that the delimitation of 54 wards of Municipal Corporation Dehradun should be corrected within 15 days and sent to the government.
