The Congress has criticized the BJP for the death of seven children due to the fall of a government school building in Jhalawar, Rajasthan and Rahul Gandhi has demanded an investigation into the matter and punishment of the culprits.
On Friday, a normal morning of the students who gathered for prayer turned into a sudden tragedy, when a part of their government school building collapsed, killing seven children and injuring 27, some of which are in critical condition.
The youngest child of the dead was just six years old. A part of the sixth and seventh grade middle school building collapsed at Piplodi Government School in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan, which collapsed many children.
In a post written in Hindi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the death of many innocent children is a very painful and embarrassing incident due to the fall of the roof of a government school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan.
He said, “The government which cannot repair the roofs of our children’s schools, despite complaints for the future of the country, shows big dreams of ‘developed India’.”
He said that according to a report of the previous day, the water in a school run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi was so high that the teachers themselves had to take the children of the nursery to a safe place.
He said that today news has come that a school building in Jodhpur has become so dilapidated that children are forced to study under the neem tree.
He alleged, “The BJP, which expressed the development of development, has ruined the country. The fall of bridges, railway accidents, cracks in newly constructed roads, damaged statues of great men after inauguration – all this has become common.”
Kharge said, “BJP’s attention is focused on only one thing – hunger for power!”
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi also targeted the BJP over the incident. He said, “It is extremely tragic and worrying that many innocent children died and many others were injured when the roof of a government school fell in Jhalawar, Rajasthan.”
Gandhi said, “According to media reports, the government ignored the complaints of the dilapidated schools, due to which these innocent children lost their lives. Most of these children belonged to Bahujan Samaj – is there no price for the BJP government?”
He said, “The incident should be investigated fairly and the culprits should be punished severely.”
Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that the news of the death of many innocent children and many injured due to falling roof of a school in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, is very sad.
“According to reports, innocent children lost their lives due to serious negligence in relation to the dilapidated building. The case should be investigated immediately and strict action should be taken against the culprits,” he said.
Slabs of concrete, bricks and stones were kept in high piles, and many people, including nervous parents and teachers, helped in rescue work, and found the children out of the debris.
