Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday described the BJP rule in Maharashtra as worse than Aurangzeb and claimed that farmers were dying due to the saffron party. He claimed that farmers, unemployed people and women are committing suicide in the state.
Raut said, “It has been 400 years since Aurangzeb is buried. Forget him. Are farmers committing suicide due to Aurangzeb in Maharashtra? They are doing so because of you.”
He asked what the government is doing if the Mughal ruler tortured. The BJP is leading the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state, including Shiv Sena and NCP.
Raut said, “Farmers are committing suicide. BJP’s term is worse than Aurangzeb.”
He was answering the question asked on Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s remarks in which he said that “everyone” feels that the grave of Mughal ruler Aurangzeb in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar should be removed. Fadnavis had said that but this should be done within a legal purview as the previous Congress government had placed this site under the patronage of the Archaeological Survey of India.
Udayanraje Bhosle, a descendant of Maratha king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Satara MP of BJP, was seen removing the tomb of Aurangzeb located in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar district.
Aurangzeb is remembered for war with the Marathas in Maharashtra, who opposed his expansionist ambitions. Shivaji Maharaj’s son Sambhaji was caught on his orders, tortured and killed.
