Jammu News Desk !!! Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Ravinder Raina on Wednesday officially expelled party vice-president of Ramban district Suraj Singh Parihar from the party. Parihar is accused of being involved in anti-party activities. Parihar’s colleague Manohar Singh said in a media interview that Suraj Singh Parihar may have resigned after the party nominated Rakesh Thakur from the Ramban seat. Parihar had filed his nomination as an independent candidate on August 27.

He said that BJP’s expulsion of Parihar from the party will not make any difference. Parihar has chosen his own path away from the saffron party. He is continuously campaigning as an independent candidate. Manohar Singh claimed that Parihar has the support of the public and he will easily win the election. Ever since the announcement of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP has been facing opposition from local leaders and workers. After the announcement of candidates by the party, the leaders have openly rebelled. Some have decided to contest the elections as independents while some have resigned from the party.

On Wednesday, BJP appointed Amar Singh as the party in-charge in Samba district. Along with this, Manmohan Singh was given the responsibility of Akhnoor district as the working president. After the announcement of tickets by BJP, three leaders have resigned from the party. These include Samba district president Kashmira Singh, senior leader Chandramohan Sharma and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha Jammu district president advocate Kanav Sharma.

Chandramohan Sharma will contest the election as an independent candidate

Chandramohan Sharma, who resigned from BJP, announced on Wednesday to contest as an independent from Jammu East seat. Sharma had alleged that BJP has given tickets to corrupt and parachute candidates. Voting will be held on 18 September in the first phase in Jammu and Kashmir. 279 candidates have filed nominations in 24 assembly constituencies for the elections to be held in seven districts of the state. The maximum number of 72 candidates have filed nominations in Anantnag district. At the same time, 55 candidates have filed nominations in Pulwama district. 41 candidates have filed their nominations in Doda district, 32 in Kishtwar district, 28 in Shopian district, 28 in Kulgam district. 23 candidates are in the fray in Ramban district.
