Chandigarh, 21 March (IANS). Kisan Union BKU leader Buta Singh Burjgil on Friday decided not to attend the meeting with the Agriculture Minister of Punjab and told IANS about his strategy related to this meeting.
He said that on Friday, we had called an emergency meeting of the United Kisan Morcha. This meeting was for a letter given by the government. In this letter, the demands of the farmers were discussed with the Kisan Morcha and the resolve of those demands was said by the government.
BKU leader Buta Singh Burjgil said that the government wants to discuss the demands of the farmers by meeting with the Kisan Morcha. However, they will not attend any meeting with the government until the leaders of the farmers are released and the actions taken against them are withdrawn. First the atmosphere should be pacified, after that the meeting will continue. He said that the Punjab government had sent a letter on this issue, in which it was said that no concrete decision would be taken until the atmosphere is calm. He also demanded from the government that all farmer leaders should be released from jail and their social status should be restored.
Buta Singh Burjgil also clarified that he would not attend this meeting and his union would not participate in any kind of conversation until the government corrects its policies. He said that a six -member committee of his union has been formed on this issue, which will decide about further action. During this time, a memorandum will be prepared and pressure will be put for the release of farmer leaders. He also requested the government that the government would have to change its policies towards farmers to open the way of negotiation.
