Baghdad, Sep 1 (IANS) Two people have died in a bomb blast in Iraq’s Salahuddin province. A police officer has confirmed the incident.
According to the official, a bomb was planted by the Islamic State (IS) group in Salahuddin province, north of Baghdad. It suddenly exploded and killed two civilians and injured another.
According to the news agency Xinhua, an explosion took place near a car in Baiji city of Salahuddin province on Saturday. According to Mohammed al-Bazi of the Salahuddin Police Command Media Office, the explosion was so powerful that the car was completely damaged. Not only this, two people riding in it died and another was injured.
Let us tell you that in 2017, Islamic State (IS) was driven out of Iraq. Despite this, IS fighters are carrying out guerrilla attacks in Iraq. Terrorists infiltrate urban centers, deserts and rugged areas and target them. Apart from this, they also attack security forces and civilians.
Earlier on August 19, Iraqi security forces arrested a fugitive Islamic State (IS) terrorist from southern Baghdad. The Baghdad Operation Command (BOC) gave this information.
News agency Xinhua quoted the BOC statement as saying that based on intelligence information, the Iraqi army kept a close watch on the terrorist’s activities and ambushed him in the area around Latifiya, 40 km south of Baghdad. After this, the terrorist was successfully captured.
