Supporters of independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav staged a Rail Roko agitation at a station in Patna on Friday demanding cancellation of the recently held Bihar PSC examination.
They gathered at the Sachivalaya Halt railway station and sat on the tracks for some time, causing delay in the movement of trains, an official said.
Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway Saraswati Chandra told PTI, “The protesters stopped the Buxar-Fatuha passenger train at the Sachivalaya Halt station around 9 am on Friday. The train stopped for 20 minutes and then left the station. It’s done.”
Jan Suraj founder Prashant Kishore is on a fast unto death since Thursday demanding cancellation of the 70th Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) conducted by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) on December 13.
Kishor’s protest site is barely a few kilometers away from Gardani Bagh, where civil services aspirants have been protesting round the clock for almost two weeks. The administration said the fast unto death at Gandhi Maidan was “illegal as it is not a designated site for protests,” an official said.
The district police on Thursday registered an FIR against Kishore and others for protesting at a restricted site.
“My primary demand, of course, is to cancel the examination held on December 13 and conduct a new examination. I have also heard allegations that there are vacancies to be filled by the examination,” Kishor said on Thursday, accompanied by several supporters. The posts were virtually put on sale. Such corrupt officials should be identified and brought to justice.”
CPI (ML) Liberation also announced that its student wing AISA, along with like-minded organisations, would protest in front of the Chief Minister’s residence during the day to “force Nitish Kumar to break his silence” on the issue.
It is noteworthy that more than five lakh candidates had appeared in the examination held on December 13. Hundreds of candidates had boycotted the examination at the Bapu Examination Complex Center here, alleging that the question paper was leaked.
BPSC termed the allegation as a conspiracy, however, fresh exams were ordered for over 10,000 candidates who appeared for the exam at the Bapu Examination Complex centre. These candidates have been asked to appear at 22 newly designated centers across the city on January 4.
