New Delhi, Sep 21 (IANS) A bus carrying Border Security Force (BSF) jawans for election duty met with an accident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday, September 20.
A bus carrying 36 BSF jawans on election duty for the second phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections fell into a ditch near Brail in Wathhal of Budgam district. In which four Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were martyred and 28 others were injured.
The bus was completely damaged in the accident. The injured soldiers have been admitted to the hospital where their treatment is going on.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has expressed grief over this incident. He wrote on the social media platform X, “Extremely saddened to hear about the terrible tragedy in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 4 BSF jawans lost their lives and about 28 jawans were injured when a bus carrying them for election duty fell into a ditch. Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the brave. May they get the strength to overcome this irreparable loss. Our condolences and prayers are with the injured, we wish them a speedy recovery.”
Expressing grief over the incident, Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police RR Swain said, “We mourn the loss of these dedicated soldiers who served the country tirelessly. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and assure them of all necessary help and support by Jammu and Kashmir Police.”
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone VK Birdi, BSF Kashmir Frontier IG, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, SSP Budgam, DC Budgam and other senior officers visited the hospital where the injured jawans were admitted.
