But even after so many years of marriage, the struggle of their life was not easy. Now his wife Mridula has spoken openly about her personal life and the evils of the society. Mridula told in an interview given to Conversation with Atul YouTube channel that her marriage has not yet been accepted by her mother-in-law i.e. Pankaj Tripathi’s mother.
How did he meet Pankaj Tripathi?
Mridula told that her first meeting with Pankaj was at her brother’s wedding. It was love at first sight, but people in their community look down on love marriages, so they had to hide their relationship from their families. At that time Mridula was in class 9 and Pankaj was in class 11. Both used to meet secretly. Pankaj Tripathi’s sister is married to Mridula’s brother.
Mother had given strict instructions
Mridula’s mother started to know something about their relationship, upon which she asked Mridula to call Pankaj ‘Bhaiya’. However, Mridula did not listen to him. She started calling Pankaj ‘Pankaj ji’ and thus ji’s matter was settled. She jokingly said that today she just calls him ‘husband’.
Father supported his daughter
Mridula’s brother had already married Pankaj’s sister, so her family did not approve of this relationship. Mridula told that the biggest problem in her marriage was her caste, as per her culture, girls cannot marry in lower caste. However, when Mridula told her father about this, he supported her. But he asked to keep it private for now. His mother and sister-in-law did not like this and they created a ruckus. She was worried about how Pankaj would take care of her. However, finally both of them got married on January 15, 2004.
