CAPF, CRPF will play important role in ending Naxalism from the country by March 2026: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Naxalism from the country will be abolished by 31 March 2026 and the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will play an important role in this campaign.

Shah was addressing the 86th Foundation Day celebrations of CRPF in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh.

Shah said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi says that by 31 March 2026, Naxalism will be eradicated from the country. CAPF and CRPF, especially its Cobra (Commando Battalion for Resolution) unit will play an important role in this.” Shah earlier inspected the CRPF Foundation Day Parade here.

Shah paid tribute to the martyred soldiers of CRPF before participating in the formal parade. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was also present on the occasion.

According to an official release, the program is part of the 86th Foundation Day celebrations of CRPF.

CRPF Day is celebrated every year on 19 March. In the year 1950, on the same day, the then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel handed over the flag to the force.

According to the release, the parade was held on 17 April this year as part of the expanded ceremony.

During the British rule, ‘Crown Representative Police’ was established in Neemuch on 27 July 1939, which was named by Home Minister Patel to Central Reserve Police Force on 28 December 1949.

CRPF is playing a strong role on many fronts ranging from the integration of the princely states to internal security, anti-violent expeditions, international peace installation, VIP security and disaster management.
