After an FIR was registered against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Amanatullah Khan, Delhi Police said on Wednesday that they were campaigning and violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) implemented for the assembly elections in the national capital. .
South-East District Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Kumar Singh said, “We came to know that the election is being campaigned and MCC is being violated. The investigation found this correct. An FIR has been lodged against all the people involved in this. ”
In addition, the DCP said that cash of five lakh rupees was seized from two employees of the Delhi government.
DCP Singh said, “We received a separate complaint yesterday that two people were detained. He was handed over to the Flying Squad Team (FST) and is being questioned… FST recovered cash of five lakh rupees from him. Both are working as multi-tasking staff (MTS) in the Delhi government, further investigation is on. ”
The police took this action when a video came out in which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was allegedly seen walking in his constituency Okhla with his supporters after the election campaign was over.
DCP South-East Delhi posted an official handle on X (East), “In this case, Amanatullah registered against Amanatullah in FIR number 95/25 Section 223/3/5 BNS and 126 RP Act against Amanatullah. Has been done.”
Meanwhile, voting started for 70 assembly seats in Delhi and one assembly seat in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday morning. Voting continues from 7:00 am.
According to the Election Commission, in the first phase of Delhi assembly elections, 8.10% polling was recorded in the national capital by 9:00 am, which is moving slowly.
The north-eastern district of Delhi recorded 10.70% polling, which is the highest so far, while the south-west district recorded 9.34% polling. New Delhi district recorded the lowest turnout of 6.51%.
