Cabinet Meeting: The poor have received a big gift before Diwali. Many other schemes including Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana have been approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government has decided to extend the free food grains provided to the poor till December 2028. Along with this, approval has been given for the construction of roads for the development of border areas.
Giving information about the cabinet decisions, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized on the development of infrastructure in the border areas. In the cabinet meeting, the proposal to construct 2280 kilometers of roads in the border areas has been approved. An investment of Rs 4406 crore will be made under this scheme. Construction of roads in the border states of Punjab and Rajasthan will improve the livelihood of the people living here. With this, transportation can be made easier. Everyone will benefit from improved connectivity in these areas.
Rs 17,082 crore allocated for the scheme
He said that the supply of fortified rice under Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PM-GKAY), Mid Day Meal, Free Ration Scheme, PM Poshan and other schemes has been increased from July 2024 to December 2028. The central government has allocated Rs 17,082 crore for this scheme. The further continuation of this scheme aims to tackle anemia and nutritional deficiencies affecting children, women and men of different age groups. Globally, measures are being taken to provide nutritious food to combat anemia and malnutrition.
National Maritime Heritage Complex approved
At the same time, the Cabinet has approved the proposal to develop the National Maritime Heritage Complex in the historical site of Lothal in Gujarat. With the approval of this proposal, the rich and diverse maritime heritage can be showcased.
