New Delhi, 30 April (IANS). The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the caste census in the country. After this, the government got an influx of congratulations. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Hindustani Awam Morcha Supremo and Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi have described this move of the government as historic and welcome.
Nitish Kumar said in a post on X, “The decision of the central government to get caste census is welcome. The demand for us to get caste census is old. It is very happy that the Central Government has decided to conduct caste census. By census caste census, the number of people of different classes will be known, it will help in making plans for their upliftment and development. Greetings and thanks. “
Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Jeetan Ram Manjhi said in the X post, “The decision by the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is historic and extremely welcome! Was, it will be interesting to see which new maneuver they will adopt now. “
Explain that caste census has also been approved in the cabinet meeting. Giving information about the government’s decision, Ashwini Vaishnav said that the Congress governments have opposed the caste census. Caste census has not taken place since 1947. Instead of caste census, Congress conducted a caste survey, many states in the UPA government have done caste survey from political point of view.
He further said that in 2010, the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh had assured in the Lok Sabha that the caste census would be considered in the cabinet. Thereafter, a cabinet group was also formed, in which most political parties recommended caste -based census. Despite this, instead of caste census, the Congress government thought it appropriate to conduct a survey, which is known as CECC.
He further said that despite all this, the parties of Congress and Indie alliance used the subject of caste census only for their political gains.
