BJP MP Brijmohan Aggarwal has been MLA from this seat 8 times. On November 13, from 7 am to 6 pm, voters in the South will decide the fate of 30 candidates contesting the elections. 266 polling stations have been set up by the Election Commission for voting. This includes 10 Sangwari booths, one disabled booth, five youth managed booths.
Thorny contest between Congress-BJP
BJP candidate Sunil Soni is a leader coming from OBC category. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he contested from Raipur seat and won. He has been the MP of Raipur from the year 2019 to 2024. He has been the Chairman of Raipur Development Authority (RDA). At the same time, Akash Sharma is a youth leader of Congress and is also the state president of Youth Congress. He is considered close to Bhupesh Baghel.
At the same time, more than 1500 soldiers including more than 1800 CRPF and police personnel have been entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the voting peacefully.
