Chirag Paswan Bihar Election 2025: When a young leader on the stage raises the slogan “Bihar First, Bihari First” with a shining face, glowing smile and confidence words, the public is shocked who is this leader? Any actor? Any speaker? No, these are Chirag Paswan Ram Vilas Paswan’s son and National President of LJP (Ram Vilas). Those who once went to Mumbai to try their luck in Bollywood, now they are seen standing closest to the chair of power in Bihar politics. This time there is a discussion to contest his assembly elections. When he told the media in Raipur, “If the party benefits, I will definitely fight this election,” then there was a surge of discussions once again in the political corridors. The question is not just whether Chirag will contest elections or not, is the real thing whether the BJP-RSS now wants to shift the power of Bihar towards the Dalit leadership? Does Chirag want to get out of the role of ‘Modi’s Hanuman’ and become the real contender for the post of Chief Minister of Bihar?
The inclination of power from OBC towards Dalit leadership?
The politics of Bihar has been revolving around the OBC and upper caste leaders for the last three decades-names like Lalu Yadav, Nitish Kumar, Jitan Ram Manjhi came to power, but the permanent influence of Dalit leadership still remained incomplete. Ram Vilas Paswan himself always gave priority to Delhi politics. Now his son Chirag Paswan is indicating to pursue the same incomplete mission. According to political analyst Arvind Sharma, “BJP and RSS are looking for a new Dalit face in Bihar who are young and fast than Tejashwi Yadav. Chirag fits in that groove.
Election from normal seat: a big bet
Arun Bharti, Bihar in -charge and MP of Chirag Paswan’s party, recently wrote on X (East Twitter), “Chirag ji should now contest from the general seat, not reserved.” The same was passed by the party’s state executive as a proposal. That is, the intention is clear – Chirag now wants to become a representative of the whole of Bihar, not just a Dalit leader. Senior journalist Ravi Upadhyay sees this with Chirag’s “inclusive organizational structure”. “The Parliamentary Board of Chirag is not made up of Dalits only. It has Muslim faces like Shamim, there are OBC leaders like Raju Tiwari. That is, their politics is not caste based, but is going to touch every section.”
Tejashwi vs lamp on politics
Tejashwi Yadav has already become a young face in Bihar. In such a situation, if the NDA wants an answer to equal, then he probably does not have a better face than Chirag Paswan. But whether the lamp contest the election or not, it is still in doubt. RJD MP Misa Bharti said, “If you have courage, leave the Lok Sabha seat and contest the assembly elections.” At the same time, JDU spokesperson Anjum Ara quipped, “There is no vacancy on the post of Chief Minister. NDA will contest elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.” Pashupati Paras, who has bowed towards Chirag’s uncle and grand alliance, kept silence on the electoral possibilities of Chirag, “This is his right. I cannot comment on it.”
Is the election just ‘bargaining chip’?
The opinion of analysts is divided on whether Chirag will contest elections. Ravi Upadhyay believes that Chirag can descend from a general seat like Hajipur, Nawada or Vaishali, while Arvind Sharma calls it only ‘Persor Politics’. “It can be a strategy to keep itself in the discussion and get a better seat deal than the BJP,” says Sharma. “If the NDA considers changing the Chief Minister in the future, he can nominate the lamp. It is not necessary for him to contest the assembly elections.”
Ram Vilas vs Chirag: Difference in thinking of two generations
Ram Vilas Paswan became kingmaker by winning 29 seats in 2005, but still did not show interest in becoming the Chief Minister. Anil Sadhu, the son -in -law of his first wife, says, “Then both Vajpayee and Nitish asked him to become CM, but he refused. But the goal of Chirag is Bihar, and politics here means the Chief Minister’s chair.” Politics is also hot on the question of pressure on the BJP for the merger of LJP. BJP spokesperson Vinod Sharma denied this, saying, “LJP has an independent existence. We respect it.”
Why many people do not consider lamp as a Dalit leader?
Social activists say, “There is no acceptance of Dalit leader in Chirag. They do not connect with Dalit issues. Glamor, body language and Bollywood have more impact in their politics. Dalits who have faced the movement do not consider Chirag as their leader.” In the 2020 assembly elections, Chirag’s LJP fielded candidates for 137 seats, but won only one Matihani seat. And that MLA also later joined JDU. But this was so much that LJP made a lot of damage by making a dent in JDU’s vote bank.
Nitish scratched, then the script of reconciliation
However, today the equations between LJP and JDU seem to be improving. Nitish government has made Chirag’s brother -in -law Dhananjay Mrinal Paswan the chairman of the Scheduled Castes Commission. This change indicates that the snow of relationships is melting and Chirag Paswan’s strategy to become ‘Nitish option’ is gaining momentum. Senior journalists believe, “The party was strong at the time of Ram Vilas, yet he did not become CM. Chirag is not yet at that level. Bihar is not a state like North East or Jharkhand where anyone becomes the Chief Minister.”
Whether you will contest elections or not, Chirag is in discussion
At present, it is not clear whether Chirag Paswan will contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections or not, but one thing is certain – they are at the center of Bihar politics. He will become Nitish’s successor or Tejashwi’s rival, it is in the womb of the future. But it is so important that “Modi’s Hanuman” now wants the power of Lanka for himself. And when a leader has a legacy, ambition and a strategy, he can become a game Changer at any time in a state like Bihar. Is Chirag Paswan the same face who will redefine Bihar politics? The answer will be found soon, perhaps in this election.
