Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) may soon call a meeting of its executive members, in which the proposal urging its president and Union Minister Chirag Paswan to contest the upcoming Bihar assembly elections will be formally given.
Sources said that its leaders had a meeting on May 30 in Bikramganj, Bihar, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting a few hours later, in which the idea was supported. Paswan himself was not involved in this meeting.
Sources said that the important thing is that if Paswan decides to contest the assembly elections, he can contest from the general category seat instead of the reserved constituency for the scheduled castes, as the leaders of the Dalit community often choose the reserved seats for the Scheduled Castes.
Its purpose is to convey a message about his acceptance outside his main constituency and present him as a leader with a comprehensive appeal.
LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Arun Bharti told PTI-Bhasha that Bihar is the center of politics of Paswan and has repeatedly spoken about his approach to the development of the state. He remembered the ‘Bihar first’ agenda ‘laid by the Union Minister.
Bharti said, “If Paswan repeats its agenda from the land and assembly of Bihar, it can be expressed better.”
He cited the reason behind the competition for the main face in the assembly elections for the main face. The assembly elections are expected to be held in October-November.
The move is also seen as a power display by this important component of the BJP -led National Democratic Alliance in Bihar. It is the third largest component of the NDA after the Janata Dal (United) led by BJP and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Dialogue on seat sharing in the NDA in the state is yet to begin, which is more busy than ever, and its constituents are strengthening their positions that it will be a difficult bargain.
The party established by the prominent Dalit community leader Ram Vilas Paswan considers herself important for the success of the ruling coalition in the state, where the RJD-Congress-Vampati group is feeling an opportunity to remove him from power after two decades amid concerns about fitness of Nitish Kumar.
LJP (RLD) may call a meeting of its national executive or state executive members to formalize the proposal to contest the assembly elections to Chirag Paswan.
Due to differences with Kumar, the ruling party of the state suffered heavy losses due to Paswan’s exit from NDA in the 2020 assembly elections and mostly JD (U), the ruling party of the state suffered a huge loss, which definitely made it junior to BJP and the opposition remained just a few steps away from power.
Although Paswan’s party also could win only one seat and later faced partition, but since then it has rectified his political magic and won all the five Lok Sabha seats in which he contested in 2024 elections.
The parties led by Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha are the other NDA members in the state with a 243 -member assembly. Paswan, a Lok Sabha MP for the third time, has never contested the assembly elections, but recently he has expressed his curiosity for state politics.
