New Delhi, September 12 (IANS) Amid the ongoing protests over the RG tax scandal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said that she apologizes to the people of Bengal with folded hands, I am not hungry for power. She is ready to resign for the people. After this statement of CM Banerjee, BJP MP Jagannath Sarkar said that CM Banerjee is making political statements and doing drama. She is never going to leave power. She can give her life, but cannot sacrifice power.
She has fallen prey to frustration and despair. The unfortunate incident that happened happened at her behest. The entire incident happened with Mamata’s knowledge, so she should be held accountable. The public’s anger over this incident is justified. Our demand is that the victim should get justice.
He said that earlier it was not necessary for him to resign, but now it has become necessary. It is clear that the police-administration is behind the incident. Everything has been done at the behest of the government. In such a situation, the resignation that he has offered is not trustworthy. He should first resign and then make a public statement.
Chief Minister Banerjee’s resignation offer comes at a time when doctors protesting against the rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College refused to meet her as the state government did not agree to live telecast the meeting. The government was ready to record the meeting, but the doctors insisted on live streaming.
