New Delhi, 16 February (IANS). The compensation for the affected has been announced after the incident of a stampede at New Delhi railway station on Saturday night. Indian Railways has announced compensation for the families and injured of the deceased.
Railways have announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh to the seriously injured passengers and Rs 1 lakh to a minor injured passengers.
By 06 am on Sunday morning, a total of 71 trains were run and more than 1.60 lakh passengers boarded these trains. At the same time, a total of 339 trains were run on Saturday (15 February) and more than 14.76 lakh passengers traveled in them.
Railways also confirmed that all the fixed trains are running according to their regular schedule and special trains have also been arranged. Apart from this, trains without reservation are also being run as per the demand of the passenger.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav expressed grief over the death of people in a stampede at New Delhi railway station and said that I am very sad about the unfortunate stampede at New Delhi railway station. My prayers are with all those who have lost their loved ones. The entire team is working to help all those who have been affected by this tragic incident.
Let me tell you that there was a stampede on platform number 13 and 14 of New Delhi railway station late on Saturday night when rumors of the cancellation of two trains going to Prayagraj were allegedly spread among the passengers. LNGP Hospital confirmed the death of 15 people and said that many were injured who are being treated. After the accident, the Railways arranged for four special trains and reduced the crowd pressure on the platform. Railways have ordered a high level inquiry into the incident.
