New Delhi, September 8 (IANS). The decision on the alliance between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party in the Haryana assembly elections has not been taken yet. Meanwhile, Congress leader Udit Raj gave a statement regarding the alliance. He said that both the parties are together to save democracy and the Constitution.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Udit Raj said, “Talks are going on at many levels regarding the alliance in the Haryana assembly elections. Haryana Congress in-charge Deepak Bavariya is also a part of it. But one thing is clear that both the parties have the same stand in the matter of saving democracy and the constitution. Now talks are going on about an agreement, if it happens then it is fine, if it does not happen then there is no need to worry. We have reached a consensus that the country, democracy and the constitution have to be saved. That is why we will also support each other.”
On the allegations of Aam Aadmi Party, he said, “They would not have made any demand from our party leaders to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections, if they had, our leaders would have definitely gone to campaign. But, we had placed our demand and I myself had gone to Arvind Kejriwal’s house to meet him. After this, he campaigned in favor of me and Kanhaiya. But no such initiative was taken by AAP.”
Udit Raj said that at that time such a notion was created and their leaders said that once the vote goes to Congress, then Aam Aadmi Party will not be able to get it. However, Kejriwal also campaigned in my support during the Lok Sabha elections. But both the MLA and councillor of his party were insecure. They believed that if I win from the North-West Lok Sabha constituency, then they will have difficulty in winning the MLA and councillor elections.
He said that I believe that all these questions were arising in the minds of the leaders of his party, but I do not think that the Aam Aadmi Party has issued any instructions in this regard. But this was the thinking of their local leaders.
