New Delhi, September 2 (IANS) Delhi Congress state president Devendra Yadav met the Lieutenant Governor on Monday and demanded re-conducting of the mayoral elections.
Talking exclusively to IANS about his meeting with Lt. Governor VK Saxena, Devendra Yadav said, “We requested the Lt. Governor to sack the current mayor and hold elections as soon as possible to give a chance to an SC candidate.
He said that there is a provision in the Delhi Corporation Act that the third year is reserved for SC. But the third tenure has started after 31 March, despite this the Mayor Sahiba is illegally holding her post. This is an attack on the rights of SC people.
Aamantullah Khan, AAP MLA from Delhi’s Okhla assembly constituency and chairman of the Wakf Board, was arrested by the ED on Monday. Regarding this, the Congress state president said that the ED has arrested him in a money laundering case. I believe that the investigating agency will take action on this as soon as possible and adopt the right path.
Apart from this, on CM Arvind Kejriwal’s personal secretary Vibhav Kumar getting bail from the Supreme Court, the Congress leader said that bail is a legal right of everyone and under this Vibhav Kumar has got bail.
