New Delhi, March 22 (IANS). Four percent reservation for minorities in Karnataka, the issue of MPs suspended by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Parliament and the Waqf Board Amendment Bill, Congress MP Syed Naseer Hussain openly expressed his opinion on the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. On giving four percent reservation to minorities in government contracts in Karnataka, he said that reservation system has been applicable in Karnataka for the last 25 years, in which SC, ST, OBC, backward class, most backward class, and minority communities are getting the benefit of reservation. This is not a new reservation.
Syed Naseer Hussain, while supporting this system, said that this step has been taken on the basis of exploitation and economic backwardness, so that every section of the society can get equal opportunities. He now welcomed the Karnataka government to further extend the reservation, in which it has been decided to give reservation on contracts up to two crore rupees in government contracts. Along with this, backward class and minorities are also being given the benefit of this system, so that they can be actively involved in the development of the country.
In addition, Hussain reacted to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s suspension of 18 MLAs in the assembly for six months. He asked how many MPs the BJP had suspended, and reminded that 12 MPs were suspended against the black law of farmers, while 56 MPs were suspended for security reasons. He asked the BJP the question, what is his answer on this?
Syed Naseer Hussain also clarified his party’s stand on the Waqf Board Amendment Bill. Describing it as “Anfair” and “Tarked Bill”, he said that it is an attempt to weaken the constitution and minority culture. They alleged that the government is trying to change the constitution gradually, and this bill is part of this process.
Hussain also gave his opinion at the Shivaji memorial. He said that we should understand their contribution while considering historical persons and places. He believed that in democracy, the local government should have the right to take decisions, so that they can take decisions according to the needs of their area.
