Politics: The ‘India’ alliance presented a no-confidence motion against the country’s Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. Leaders of India Alliance held a press conference regarding this. Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has accused Jagdeep Dhankhar of adopting a biased attitude. He said that today more politics is happening in the House than rules. Along with this he also explained why no-confidence motion has been brought against the Vice President.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge remembered the country’s first Vice President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and said in 1952 that he did not belong to any party. This clearly meant that he spoke impartially. He said that the post of Vice President of India is the second highest constitutional post in the country. From 1952 till date, no proposal has been brought against any Vice President for removal of the Vice President under Article 67 of the Constitution, because he has always been impartial and completely beyond politics. He always ran the House according to the rules, but today more politics than rules is happening in the House.
Chairman does not allow the opposition to speak
He said that we are saddened that a no-confidence motion has to be brought against Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar. He said that sometimes, like a headmaster, he starts organizing classes for opposition party leaders and sometimes he starts reciting odes in praise of the government. He has accused the Vice President of not taking care of seniors and juniors. He said that sometimes he makes political statements for the opposition leaders and sometimes he does not allow them to speak and he himself starts giving sermons.
Accused of behaving like a BJP spokesperson
Mallikarjun Kharge further said that the Vice President’s behavior has become like the spokesperson of BJP. He has accused the Chairman himself of disrupting the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha. He said that the opposition party goes to the Speaker for its protection, but we cannot do this. He said that the Chairman himself does not want the House to function properly, he himself tries to stall it. He has accused the Chairman of working at the behest of the ruling party. He said that if the opposition people ask any question, they themselves start taking the side of the government.
Chairman accused of disregarding traditions
At the same time, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has accused Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar of disregarding the traditions of parliamentary democracy. He said that as soon as the House begins, the Chairman himself gives a speech for 40 minutes and later says to riot. He said that we feel that he runs a circus and not the House. He further said that this is not a personal fight, but a fight for the system.
