New Delhi, January 15 (IANS). Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz on Wednesday launched a unique initiative to spread awareness about the importance of voting in view of the Delhi Assembly elections. He flagged off a fleet of over three thousand specially designed auto-rickshaws, aimed at sensitizing citizens about voting and motivating them to actively participate in the democratic process.
Delhi Chief Electoral Officer R Alice Vaz flagged off the fleet. During this, he said that this step has been taken to make the citizens of Delhi aware about the importance of voting. He told that these auto-rickshaws will go to different areas of Delhi and motivate people to participate in the elections. Under this campaign, information and messages related to the importance of voting have been placed on each auto-rickshaw, which will directly reach the people during the election season.
More than three thousand auto-rickshaws involved in the campaign will roam in different areas of Delhi to promote the importance of voting. Special promotional materials and messages have been placed on these auto-rickshaws, so that more and more people participate in the voting process and exercise their democratic rights properly.
Let us tell you that voting for Delhi Assembly elections will be held in single phase on 5th February. According to the Election Commission, a total of 1.55 crore voters including 83,49,645 men, 71,73,952 women and 1,261 third gender voters will exercise their franchise. The election results will be announced on February 8. With the announcement of the election date, the election ‘Model Code of Conduct’ has come into force in Delhi. Under this, government resources cannot be used for election campaigning.
