Former Delhi Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Atishi on Friday attacked the BJP government over the source of money for the state budget.
Atishi said in a press conference, “It is not clear from where the money shown in the budget is coming from.” He also criticized the government for not presenting the Economic Survey during the budget session and told it not to follow the long -running tradition.
The former Chief Minister said, “Economic Survey is a technical document that provides financial clarity. It has been introduced in the assembly for decades but this time the BJP government did not introduce it.
Atishi said that if the survey had been presented, it would have become clear whether the government’s claim of 20 percent budget increase compared to last year was correct. He claimed that the government never faced financial deficit during the tenure of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He said, “Now when the BJP is in power, they are claiming that the government is in loss.”
The ruling party has not yet reacted to Atishi’s claims.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also has the Finance Department. He presented the budget on Tuesday with a outlay of Rs 1 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26, which shows an increase of 31.5 percent compared to the previous year.
