In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta himself made kheer before presenting the budget, while former Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi on Monday criticized the BJP -led Central Government, alleging that the promise of giving financial assistance of Rs 2,500 to women has not been fulfilled. He hoped that the ruling party would fulfill its commitments during the budget session starting today (March 24).
Talking to ANI, Leader of the Opposition Atishi said, “BJP had made a lot of promises before the election. We hope that they will fulfill the promises in this budget session. The first and most important promise was that the women of Delhi will get Rs 2,500 on March 8. Till date, the registration of that scheme has not started. It is clear that PM Modi lied and cheated the people of Delhi.
He said, “We hope that the people of Delhi will not be betrayed in this budget.”
Atishi also talked about presenting the CAG report and said, “They went to court with the demand that the CAG report should be submitted in the assembly. Why are they not presenting all the reports? Why are the CAG reports being submitted in the episode? If the speaker has 14 CAG reports, they should present immediately.”
The Delhi Assembly Secretariat said in a first statement that the third CAG report on the functioning of DTC will also be presented in the House.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday prepared a formal ‘Kheer’ before the inauguration of the new government’s budget session in the Delhi Assembly.
Making a unique start of financial proceedings, the newly elected Chief Minister thanked the people involved in the budget making process, saying, “Many congratulations to all the leaders, ministers, legislators and people who have suggested, as well as our leadership, under which we have prepared this budget.”
Highlighting the importance of this event, he said, “For the first time such a ceremony has been organized in Delhi. Budget from Kheer’s sweetness. It has been offered to Lord Rama and now it will be served to those who have given their suggestions.”
The Delhi Assembly is going to organize its first budget session under the BJP government, in which the state budget will be presented on 25 March. The budget session running from 24 March to 28 March with the provisions of expansion is an important moment for the BJP government, which has recently returned to power in the 2025 Delhi assembly elections after 27 years.
Earlier, auto drivers, businessmen and shopkeepers gathered in the assembly to attend the ‘Kheer’ function. BJP MLA Karnail Singh said, “People from all sections of the society including traders and shopkeepers have been invited. Today is the first day of the budget session. Sweet kheer, sweet budget.”
According to the House’s agenda, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will submit a proposal for the election of financial committees, which will be an important step in the financial administration of the Legislative Assembly.
The list states, “Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will present the following proposals:” that the members of this House will elected nine members of their members under the requisite manner under Rule 192 (2), Rule 194 (2) and Rule 196 (2) of the National Capital Region Delhi Assembly, who will act as members of the Public Accounts Committee, Estimate Committee and Government Employments from 1 April 2025.
In addition, Vice President Mohan Singh Bisht and member Om Prakash Sharma will present the first report of the Working Advisory Committee. This report is expected to get valuable information about the functioning of the assembly and legislative agenda. Members Sanjay Goyal and Poonam Sharma will present the first report of the committee on the bills of private members as per the work list.
The Delhi Assembly Secretariat said in a statement that the CAG report on the functioning of DTC will also be presented in the House during the budget session. This will be the third CAG report, which will be introduced in the House.
