New Delhi, 5 April (IANS). The Delhi Congress held the third and final phase of the meeting of District Congress Committee presidents to empower its organization at the district level at Indira Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday.
In this meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Organization General Secretary K.C. Senior leaders including Venugopal churned the suggestions of the district presidents.
The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen the organization at the ground level, improve voter list verification and improve functioning.
In his address, Mallikarjun Kharge, describing the district presidents as the most important link of the organization, said that his role is important in spreading the ideas and programs of the party to the people. He called for a full power for the upcoming assembly elections and intensifying the struggle against the anti-people policies of the BJP-RSS. The Congress will have to fight continuously against the anti-people and anti-constitutional thinking of the BJP-RSS. Public issues will have to be raised. During this, he also reminded the Congress’s decision to celebrate the organization empowerment year on 2024-25 at the session of Belagavi.
Taking a dig at the Modi government, Kharge said that the priority of the government is not public welfare, but communal polarization. Taking a dig at the operation till late night of Parliament, he said that instead of debating issues like inflation and unemployment, the government secretly deal with legal work. The government does not run Parliament to debate against inflation, unemployment, economic failure, US tariffs till four in the night. He also told the district presidents that everyone would have to make efforts to monitor the election process, to stop tampering with the voter list.
After the meeting, K.C. Venugopal and Pawan Kheda said that a total of 862 district presidents took part in three phases. There was a detailed discussion on booth management, voter list verification, ideology training and social media strategy. Apart from them, state Congress presidents, general secretaries and various state in -charge also participated.
Venugopal also informed about the historic session of the Congress to be held in Ahmedabad on 8-9 April. He said that this session will be on the banks of the Sabarmati River and its tagline will be ‘Nyayapath: Sankalp, Dedication and Conflict’. This session is being held in Gujarat on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi becoming Congress President and 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. He informed that on 8 April, the meeting of the Congress Working Committee will be held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Memorial site. There will be a session of the All India Congress Committee on 9 April.
