Delhi Assembly Election 2025: This time the contest on New Delhi Assembly seat has become quite interesting. This seat has been given to Delhi by the Chief Minister for the last six times. This time, BJP’s former MP and son of former Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma’s bright leader Pravesh Verma and former MP Sandeep Dixit, son of Congress’ former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit are in the fray against the common man. Due to this, the competition here looks quite interesting.
New Delhi Assembly constituency is constantly in the news in Delhi elections. This seat was formed in 1993. Delhi’s popular and former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had won the post of Chief Minister by winning the elections from here for three consecutive times. In 2013, Sheila Dikshit had to face defeat from Arvind Kejriwal. But the special thing is that this seat gave the Chief Minister to Delhi. However, the Chief Minister is not from this seat right now. In 2015 and 2020, Arvind Kejriwal reached the Assembly by getting elected from here.
In New Delhi Assembly constituency, where there are high profile government quarters of Delhi, there are Pilanji village, Sanjay Basti, Dayanand Basti, Balmiki Basti.
The total voters in New Delhi Assembly are 1,45,901 of which male voters are 79,799 and female voters are 66,101. If we look at the results of 2020 elections, Aam Aadmi Party got 46758 votes, BJP got 25061 votes and Congress got 3220 votes. As far as vote percentage is concerned, Aam Aadmi Party got 61.10 percent votes, BJP got 37.75 percent votes and Congress got 4.21 percent votes.
The main problem of New Delhi Assembly is also water supply and traffic jam. The common man is not getting relief from this. Water pipes have been laid in many slum areas but the problem still persists. There is encroachment at many places in New Delhi area due to which traffic jams while going to and from office are common. Due to which people are worried. Supply of dirty water is a big problem in settlements like Pilanji village, Sanjay Basti, Dayanand Basti. Employment is also an issue in New Delhi Assembly constituency. Youth are worried about employment. An NDMC government employee says that after the death of NDMC employees, promises of jobs were made to their families but the promise was not fulfilled. Krishna Kumar Gopi, who lives in Pilanji village, says that there is continuous supply of dirty water in his area. The government is not paying attention even after repeatedly drawing its attention. Due to which the common man is troubled. Suman, who lives in Balmiki colony, says that employment is a big issue and the youth are not getting employment. Due to which this issue also dominates in this assembly.
However, this time everyone’s eyes are on the New Delhi Assembly because BJP’s candidate Pravesh Verma is very active. Especially since the day his candidature was announced, he has been continuously active due to which it is not an easy path for Arvind Kejriwal. Whereas Sandeep Dikshit is trying to win over the public in his favor by highlighting the work done by Sheila Dikshit.
