New Delhi, January 17 (IANS). Even amidst the tsunami of Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi, the people of Vishwas Nagar assembly constituency have supported BJP in 2015 and 2020. Therefore, everyone will be keeping an eye on this election also.
In the last two assembly elections in Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party defeated Congress and BJP. While BJP succeeded in winning three seats in the 2015 assembly elections, this number reached eight seats in the 2020 assembly elections. In this assembly elections, BJP claims that they are forming the next government and Aam Aadmi Party claims that the people will give them a chance for the third time.
OP on Vishwas Nagar seat in the year 2020. Sharma got 65,830 votes. Whereas, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Deepak Singla got 49,373 votes. At third position was Congress candidate Guru Charan Singh Raju, who got 7,881 votes.
Earlier in the 2015 elections, Om Prakash Sharma got 58,124 votes. Dr. Atul Gupta from Aam Aadmi Party got 47,966 votes. Naseeb Singh from Congress stood third. He got 20,634 votes. In the year 2013, BJP candidate Om Prakash Sharma won and got 44,801 votes. Congress’s Naseeb Singh got 37,002 votes, while the Aam Aadmi Party candidate stood at the third position. Dr. Atul Gupta got 30,388 votes.
If we go into the history of this seat, Congress held this seat from 1993 to 2008.
Total voters in Vishwas Nagar are 2,04,393 of which 1,07,901 are male and 96,483 are female voters. In which there are also nine third gender voters.
The caste equation in this assembly which comes under the Lok Sabha of East Delhi is mixed. In this densely populated area, Muslim voters are 5.6 percent, Sharma 5.2 percent, Agarwal 1.3 percent.
Areas like Gagan Vihar, East Arjun Nagar, Dayanand Vihar, Jagruti Enclave, Surajmal Vihar, Shrestha Vihar falling under this assembly are facing problems of drinking water, traffic management and stray animals.
Voting for Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will be held in a single phase on February 5. According to the Election Commission, a total of 1.55 crore voters, including 83,49,645 men, 71,73,952 women and 1,261 third gender voters, will exercise their franchise. The result will be announced on 8 February.
