New Delhi, October 30 (IANS). BJP MP Manoj Tiwari spoke to IANS on Wednesday. He reacted to the statement given by Delhi government on Ayushman scheme.
The BJP MP said, “Every elderly person in this country now knows that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken the responsibility of giving Rs 5 lakh for treatment to elderly people aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their income group. However, The Delhi Chief Minister is blocking the implementation of the scheme. The Aam Aadmi Party government has also stopped the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which provides healthcare coverage of Rs 5 lakh to the poor across the country, from accessing its benefits to elderly citizens. They are being denied access. Now we have to go to court for this, we have full confidence that the court will destroy such anti-poor and anti-elderly facilities government and its intentions.
Let us tell you that Delhi Government Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said on Wednesday that 80 percent of the people of Delhi will not be eligible for the Ayushman card. Because everyone has fridge and bike in their house. When we provide free treatment up to Rs 50 lakh to everyone in Delhi, then why give a central government card up to Rs 5 lakh. He said, Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad are full of big private hospitals. Still, why are people from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana coming to Delhi to get their surgeries done? BJP CMs of UP and Haryana should tell how many poor people have undergone surgery in these big hospitals under Ayushman Bharat scheme. People from these states come to Delhi to get surgery because the Ayushman Bharat scheme is only on paper.
Delhi’s health model is being discussed in other states of the country as well as abroad. In Delhi’s model, everyone gets free treatment in mohalla clinics at the primary level and polyclinics at the secondary level.
All tests, medicines and surgeries are done free of cost at our place.
