After the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Delhi government has taken an important step and issued an order to leave the country living in the capital. The government on Friday clarified that the decision has been taken as per the instructions of the central government, asking all Pakistani citizens to leave India.
The Home Department of the Delhi government issued a statement saying that all the visas except medical, long -term, diplomat and official visa have been canceled from 27 April 2025, following the central government’s instructions. According to the instructions issued, the current medical visas will also become invalid after April 29 and the application for a new visa will not be accepted in future.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that strict action will be taken against Pakistani citizens who violate the orders of the central government. He assured that the matter is being seriously monitored and no laxity will be taken.
Significantly, the step was taken after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on Tuesday, in which 25 Indian citizens and a Nepali citizen were killed, while many others were seriously injured. According to experts, the attack is considered to be the biggest terrorist attack after the 2019 Pulwama attack.
In response to this attack, the Government of India has taken many strict measures against Pakistan. These include suspending the Indus Water Treaty and closing the Integrated Check Post (ICP) on the attic border. Along with this, India has also canceled all visa issued under the SAARC Visa Rebate Scheme.
The Government of India has ordered the defense, Navy and Air Force advisors working at the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi to leave the country within a week, declaring the Navy and Air Force advisors “Persona Non Grata”.
Under this, India has also decided to withdraw five assistant employees including defense, Navy and Air Force advisors from its Islamabad High Commission. The number of staff in the highways of the two countries will also be reduced from 55 to 30, which will be applicable from 1 May 2025.
