The ‘Crop Insurance Scheme for one rupee’ launched for farmers in Maharashtra is now going through a crisis. This scheme was considered a revolutionary step in the interest of farmers, but now many obstacles are coming in it. In this context, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has given a big statement in Pune and has assured that the government will take any necessary steps in the interest of farmers.
What did Ajit Pawar say?
Ajit Pawar said, “Crop insurance scheme in one rupee ‘was launched for a great purpose to provide relief to small and medium farmers from natural disasters. But now the scheme is facing many technical and practical obstacles.” He also informed that some people in rural areas have taken advantage of this scheme wrongly. According to Pawar, “In many places people filled the form for show and cheated in the name of crop insurance. But now it will not work.”
There is no compromise with the interests of farmers
The government is reviewing the scheme and new guidelines can be implemented soon. Ajit Pawar clarified that no compromise will be made with the interests of the farmers and the next step of the government will also be taken keeping in mind the welfare of the farmers.
‘Crop Insurance Scheme for one rupee’ was launched with the aim of providing insurance protection to farmers at very low premium. Its purpose was to compensate for the damage caused by drought, flood, insect infection and other natural disasters. Now the biggest challenge before the government is how to revive this scheme in a transparent and effective manner, so that the real needy farmers can get its benefits.
