Despite the Prime Minister's foreign visits, why are the government 'failed' to isolate Pakistan: Mahua Moitra

Amidst Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s starting visit to five countries, Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on Wednesday called him “the Prime Minister” and asked why the government’s diplomatic efforts are “failed” to isolate Pakistan on the global stage.

In a video statement, Moitra said that Modi is “probably the first Prime Minister who has made the most visits – and that too with the public money. It seems that he is engaged in establishing India in the global system firmly and making sure that India remain in a prominent place.”

Moitra said, “Some questions, how did it happen that even after your diplomatic reach and all the efforts of India, today the leader of the independent world is openly expressing love for the country which is called a stronghold of terrorism, eating with his army chief. And the worst thing is that India and Pakistan have been kept together, which was unimaginable until 10 years ago.”

She was clearly referring to the recent meeting between US President Donald Trump and Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir.

He said, ‘Today the Prime Minister of India and the Prime Minister of Pakistan are being talked about in one breath. Prime Minister, how have we been unable to isolate Pakistan diplomatically even after all your efforts and all your efforts and all diplomatic efforts of our Foreign Ministry?

The MP said, ‘Why no country openly spoke against Pakistan after the Pahalgam attack? We have not been able to show anyone a direct connection between Pakistan and Pahalgam attacks. Is this not an intelligence failure from our side? ‘

Moitra said that multilateral organizations like World Bank and IMF are helping Pakistan for billions of dollars.

He said, “Either we have been completely unable to convince them, or Pakistan has done a better job than us.”

Prime Minister Modi left for a week -long visit to five countries on Wednesday, including Brazil, where he will attend the BRICS summit.
