DMK condemned the central government for 'politics of vengeance', accused of 'misuse' of central agencies

The ruling DMK of Tamil Nadu on Saturday condemned the BJP -led Central Government and said that it was misusing the central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate for ‘Reticence of Venus’. The DMK vowed to face it legally and take the issue to the public’s court.

In a meeting of the district secretaries of the party chaired by DMK President and Chief Minister MK Stalin, the Dravidian organization passed a resolution, stating: “This meeting of District Party Secretaries strongly condemns the BJP government at the Center, which is imposing an unannounced emergency.” It cited the misuse of alleged power for such a scenario.

The DMK claimed that such an misuse of power was carried out by the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate in the opposition -ruled states, including the DMK -ruled Tamil Nadu. At the same time, the Dravidian party accused the central government of encroaching “freedom of all autonomous institutions including the judiciary”.

Addressing the meeting, Stalin said that the DMK has faced several tests in his long journey and those who cannot beat the party politically will adopt a strategy to intimidate. The party chief said, “Therefore, we should face the BJP’s threats politically.”

In the meeting, it was decided to hold public meetings at 1,244 places across the state to highlight the achievements of the DMK government led by CM Stalin during the last 4 years.

The proposal further stated that while the CBI, ED and tax department should work impartially, the BJP government received “criticism” from the courts for the use of institutions for “political vengeance” to these institutions. The DMK alleged that the central government misused its agencies to intimidate parties like AIADMK to form an alliance with the BJP.

The ruling party of Tamil Nadu underlined that the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court have condemned corruption in such central agencies. The DMK meeting said that it would legally face courage of the revenge action against its leaders by central agencies like ED.

In addition, the meeting decided to reach the people about “misuse of power” by the BJP -led Center in the meeting and vowed to compete with the saffron party and its allies in the election. DMK leaders including Ponmudi and V Senthil Balaji are under the supervision of ED in connection with different cases.

A proposal mourned the death of innocent civilians in Pahalgam and recently the demise of Pope Francis. Also, the party decided to hold its next general council meeting in Madurai on 1 June.
