Congress leader Digvijay Singh on Thursday compared Madhya Pradesh cabinet minister Vijay Shah to “troll Army of BJP” and asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers his comment about Colonel Sophia Qureshi appropriate.
He said that even after the case was registered against Shah on the order of Madhya Pradesh High Court, the BJP is trying to save him.
Singh told reporters in Indore, “BJP leaders are vying to make every matter a Hindu-Muslim issue.
He said that Prime Minister Modi and BJP President JP Nadda should answer whether he finds Shah’s controversial remarks about Colonel Qureshi.
Shah came into the limelight when a viral video featured him allegedly making objectionable remarks against Colonel Qureshi. Last week, Colonel Qureshi along with another female officer Wing Commander Vyomika Singh during media briefing on Operation Sindoor also gained fame across the country.
The Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday reprimanded Shah to comment “derogatory” against Colonel Qureshi and use the “Gutter language”, and ordered the police to file an FIR against him for promoting enmity and hatred.
Singh said, “This mentality is not only of Shah. It is the mentality of the troll army of the BJP. Whatever Shah has said, it reflects the BJP’s Sanghi ideology. Despite the case of a case against the tribal affairs minister Shah, the BJP has not yet taken any action against him. It clearly shows that the ruling party is trying to save the cabinet minister.”
Singh also praised the Indian Armed Forces for Operation Sindoor. He said, “I congratulate the Indian Army and intelligence agencies for avenge of the Pahalgam terror attack by attacking the right goals. But it is still not known where the four terrorists involved in this terror attack are.”
The Rajya Sabha MP also questioned the claims of US President Donald Trump about the “ceasefire” between India and Pakistan. “In the past, whenever India fought with Pakistan, we have never allowed external forces to intervene and resolve the matter,” he said.
The Congress leader said that after the Pahalgam attack, every section of the society, including the minorities and the opposition, fully supported the Narendra Modi government at the Center in the country’s fight against terrorism. Despite this, the announcement of a sudden ‘ceasefire’ between India and Pakistan was beyond everyone’s imagination.
He said that Prime Minister Modi should call a meeting with leaders of opposition parties regarding the India-Pakistan dispute.
