The Ganga river is flowing above the danger mark in Bihar’s capital Patna. The Patna administration has ordered 76 village schools to remain closed till August 31. Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh says that the administration has taken this step for the safety of students and teachers. Recently a school teacher died after falling into the Ganga river, after which the Bihar government has handed over the responsibility of opening or closing the school to the district administration.
Schools were also closed in Mizoram
The northeastern state of Mizoram is also suffering from rain. Heavy rains continue to wreak havoc in three districts including Mizoram’s capital Aizawl. The administration had ordered to keep schools closed for 5 days last week. The state has been receiving torrential rains since August 20. Many roads have been closed due to landslides. Let us tell you that in March this year, 42 people died due to landslides in Mizoram.
Schools closed in Gujarat
Floods have caused havoc everywhere in Gujarat. Many districts of Gujarat are in the grip of floods. In such a situation, the administration had ordered the closure of schools from August 27. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rains in Gujarat for the next two to three days. Heavy rains have been occurring in the state for the last two days. Due to this, thousands of people have been shifted from one place to another. The NDRF team is engaged in rescue work. Due to continuous rains, the water level of Sardar Sarovar Dam and Narmada River has started rising. This has also increased the difficulties of the local administration.
