The hearing was conducted by a bench of CJI Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Manoj Mishra. During this, lawyer Kapil Sibal on behalf of the West Bengal government and Solicitor General (SG) Tushar Mehta on behalf of the CBI presented the investigation report.
While presenting the arguments, Kapil Sibal told the court that about 23 people have died in the last few days due to doctors going on strike. The CJI asked Mamata Sarkar whether the Kolkata Police has given the entire CCTV footage from 8:30 am to 10:45 pm? To this, Sibal’s answer was yes. After this, the CJI again asked that the CBI says that they have got only 27 minutes of video? On this, Sibal said that some parts of the evidence found from 8:30 to 10:45 have been handed over. Apart from this, there were some technical flaws, but the hard disk was full, which was given. Apart from this, the CBI lawyer said that the time is not written in the post-mortem report. There is no information about who did the videography. After this, the court asked the CBI to submit a new status report on September 16, after which we will hold the next hearing on September 17.
