Cairo, 27 February (IANS). Egypt has strictly rejected any proposal to take over the temporary administrative responsibility of the Gaza Strip. He has clarified that he is fully committed to the permanent and comprehensive solution of the Israeli-Felistine conflict.
According to the Egyptian Middle East News Agency report, Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khalf said that no proposal can be accepted that ignores the root causes of the established stance and struggle of Egypt and Arab countries.
According to the Xinhua News Agency report, he described these proposals as “incomplete solutions”, which can pull it even longer rather than ending the conflict.
Khalf also clarified that the Palestinian areas are connected to each other. The Gaza Strip, West Bank and Eastern Jerusalem are the land of the future Palestinian state and should only have sovereignty and administration of Palestine.
The Israeli Opposition Leader Yyir Lapid recently suggested that Gaza’s administration should be given to Egypt for at least eight years after the war. Instead, the international community helps in repaying Egyptian foreign debt.
He also proposed a security arrangement, in which Israel, Egypt, America and Arab countries together handle the security system of Gaza. However, he did not clarify how this system would work.
Egypt has already seen the administration of Gaza from 1948 to 1967. However, he admitted that he had not directly interacted with Egyptian officials on the proposal, but discussed with other leaders of the region.
According to Lapid’s proposal, which he has introduced as a plan of 8 points, the current ceasefire will continue until the final agreement is reached in Gaza. During this time all the hostages will be released and the Israeli army will be deployed on the outer boundaries of Gaza. The scheme also includes handing over the administration of Gaza to Egypt under the proposal of the United Nations Security Council, including internal security and civil cases.
Egypt has already turned down the proposal of former US President Donald Trump, which plans to take control of Gaza of America, send residents there to Egypt and Jordan and allegedly make Riviera in the Middle East.
Egypt, Jordan and other Arab countries have condemned the proposal in which there is talk of removing Palestinians from their old land. He says that two-nation solutions have been described as the only equitable solution to the Palestinian problem.
Instead, Egypt is preparing a comprehensive plan to reconstruct Gaza without displacing Palestinians. An emergency Arab conference will be held on March 4 in Cairo to discuss the issue.
