Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday demanded in the state assembly that a case of treason should be registered against Abu Azmi to praise Aurangzeb.
He said, “We condemn the killer of Dharamvir Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj i.e. Aurangzeb, whose praise of assembly members Abu Azmi.”
Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also demanded that a case of treason be registered against Abu Azmi in both houses of the assembly.
Giving a statement in this regard, Deputy Chief Minister Shinde said, “I salute Dharmveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the protector of religion and freedom. People like Abu Azmi may live physically in India, but they have the abode of Mughals. They have no more to do with the history and culture of the country. Helping such demons. “
The Deputy Chief Minister said, “Regardless of the big statements of Abu Azmi, they cannot change history, because this history is of bravery and valor of Marathas.”
The Deputy Chief Minister said that Abu Azmi needs to know the true history of Shambhaji Maharaj. He said, “Shambhu king, who won 69 wars in nine years, was a great warrior. He was a great administrator. Abu Azmi should learn the true history of Sambhaji Maharaj instead of telling Aurangzeb’s false history.”
The Deputy Chief Minister in his statement also said, “The destroyer of the country was the shadow of Shiva, the most powerful and illustrious Shambhu king.”
The response came after the statement made by SP MLA Abu Azmi during a media interaction in the Marine Drive area in which he said that Aurangzeb was a good administrator. Azmi later claimed that his statement was distorted and he was ready to withdraw his statement if he has hurt anyone.
He said, “My words have been distracted and introduced. I have said what historians and writers have said about Aurangzeb Rahmatullah Alaih. I have not made any derogatory remarks about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Sambhaji Maharaj or any other great man, but still if someone has hurt anyone, if I take back my words, I am made a political issue. Closing the budget session of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is harming the people of Maharashtra. “
Zero FIR was lodged against Abu Azmi at Thane’s Naupada police station in connection with the comment on Aurangzeb and was transferred to Mumbai’s Marine Drive Police Station.
