Elections in 2025: During 2024, along with the Lok Sabha elections, assembly elections were held in eight states of the country. After not performing as per expectations in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP showed its strength in the assembly elections of Haryana and Maharashtra and pushed the India alliance on the backfoot. Now everyone’s eyes are on 2025. Even before the beginning of 2025, the heat for assembly elections in Delhi has increased. Election temperatures will soon reach its peak with the announcement of assembly election dates.
Elections for BMC and other bodies are to be held in Maharashtra only in 2025, whereas this year is going to end with the political battle of Bihar assembly elections. The political battle between Delhi and Bihar is considered very important for both the ruling party and the opposition. A tough contest is expected between BJP and AAP in Delhi and between NDA and the opposition Grand Alliance in Bihar.
Will start with Delhi elections
2025 is going to start with the Delhi Assembly elections. During this assembly elections, the strength of BJP, AAP and Congress as well as Owaisi and BSP will be known. BJP in Delhi is trying to end its exile of last 27 years.
On the other hand, Aam Aadmi Party is trying to capture power in Delhi for the fourth consecutive time. Congress could not win a single seat in the last two assembly elections in Delhi, but this time the party is trying to show its old strength.
This time Kejriwal’s path is not easy
If AAP, under the leadership of Kejriwal, succeeds in scoring a victory in Delhi, it will be no less than a big blow for the BJP. However, this time the fight is not considered easy for Kejriwal. During last year’s Lok Sabha elections, AAP had formed an alliance with the Congress, but despite this, the BJP was successful in winning all seven Lok Sabha seats in the state. Now, due to lack of alliance between AAP and Congress in the assembly elections, BJP is also expected to get the benefit of vote distribution.
Why are elections important for BJP and Congress
The BJP lost power in Delhi in 1998 and after that the Congress government led by Sheila Dikshit remained in power for 15 consecutive years. After this, AAP has been showing its strength under the leadership of Arvind Kejriwal for the last 11 years. In such a situation, Delhi Assembly elections are being considered very important for BJP as well as Congress. AAP has gained the electoral lead by first declaring its candidates on all 70 assembly seats of Delhi.
Congress has also declared its candidates on all the seats and BJP seems to be lagging behind in this matter. However, BJP sources say that soon the party will also announce the names of the candidates. The party has already done complete homework in this regard.
Will end with Bihar elections
During 2025, all eyes will be on the assembly elections of Delhi as well as Bihar. While 2025 will begin with Delhi elections, this new year will end with Bihar assembly elections. In Bihar, preparations are being made to contest the NDA elections under the leadership of Nitish Kumar.
On the other hand, the opposition grand alliance led by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has also increased election activity. In Bihar, BJP still does not seem to be in a position to win the elections on its own and that is why the party has taken the support of Nitish Kumar. Chirag Paswan’s LJP, Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM and Upendra Kushwaha’s party RLP are also included in the NDA alliance.
Why will the scene change this time in Bihar?
On the other hand, RJD has an alliance with Congress and Left parties in Bihar. In Bihar, RJD under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav is making an effort to oust Nitish Kumar from power, but it is difficult to say how much impact this effort will have. During the Lok Sabha elections, the opposition alliance could not perform as per expectations. In such a situation, the political battle of assembly elections is not considered easy for the opposition grand alliance.
Bihar assembly elections will look different this time because Jansuraj Party, led by election strategist Prashant Kishore, has also announced to contest elections on all the assembly seats of the state. Apart from Prashant Kishor, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi is also preparing to field candidates from Seemanchal and other Muslim dominated seats. For this reason, a tough contest is being expected in the political battle of Bihar.
All eyes on Maharashtra civic elections
Municipal elections are also going to be held in Maharashtra during this new year. After showing its strength during the assembly elections, BJP is trying to show its strength alone in the civic elections of BMC and other metropolitan cities. BMC has been considered the richest corporation in the country. In such a situation, BJP is likely to face a tough challenge from other parties in this election.
Apart from BJP, former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena is also likely to contest the elections on its own.
Even before the announcement of the dates of civic elections in Maharashtra, various political parties have started laying the political chessboard. If the elections are contested alone by BJP and Uddhav Sena, then the reaction of other allies will also be worth watching.
