Emergency anniversary: Today, ie, (June 25) is one of the black days of Indian history, because the Emergency was implemented in India exactly 50 years ago. Prime Minister Modi has shared the post on ‘X’. It wrote, “Today, one of the most black chapters in India’s democratic history has completed 50 years of implementation. Indians celebrate this day as Constitution Hurry Day. On this day, fundamental rights were suspended by crushing the basic spirit of the Constitution. Not only that, not only that, the freedom of the press was also abolished.
PM Modi further wrote, “No Indian will ever forget how the spirit of our Constitution was violated, the voice of Parliament was suppressed and the courts attempted to control the courts. 42nd Amendment is a prime example of their antics. Poor, marginalized people and Dalits were specially targeted, even their dignity was insulted by the Congress government. The Congress government was made hostage.”
PM Modi was RSS young campaigner during Emergency
Prime Minister Modi said that he got to learn a lot during the Emergency. At that time he was a young campaigner of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He wrote, “The anti -emergency movement was a learning experience for me. It reinforced the importance of preserving our democratic structure. Also got to learn a lot from people associated with politics.” PM Modi also said that his visit during his Emergency has been compiled in the book ‘The Emergency Diaries’.
