Engineer Rashid News: Engineer Rashid, MP from Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, has got a big relief from the Delhi High Court. The High Court has given him a two -day custody parole on 11 and 13 February to participate in the Parliament session. He got this relief when he is detained in the case of terrorist funding and lodged in Tihar Jail. However, under the conditions of custody parole, engineer Rashid will be banned from interacting with the media, using mobile phones and internet.

Engineer Rashid was arrested by the NIA in the terrorist funding case under UAPA. He was arrested by the NIA in the 2017 terrorist funding case and he has been lodged in Tihar Jail since 2019. Interestingly, he was elected from Baramulla in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections despite being in jail, and was also given parole during the election.

Engineer Rashid recently filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, in which he demanded a custody parole to attend the budget session of Parliament. Subsequently, on Monday, the NIA opposed the petition of this custody parole. The agency said that it is illegal to give custody parole to attend the Parliament session and it is an inappropriate demand. Senior advocate Siddharth Luthra presented this argument in the court on behalf of NIA. However, the High Court dismissed the NIA’s argument and allowed engineer Rashid to be perceived custody parole.

Court gave custody parole with conditions

High Court Justice Vikas Mahajan, while giving the order, said, “In view of the peculiar facts in the case, 2 days of custody is being given parole, but the conditions have also been imposed.” The court also said that Rashid will not talk to anyone other than his limited responsibility in the Parliament session, and he will not hold any kind of conversation with the media. In addition, they will not be allowed to use mobile phones and internet.

This custody has come as a major relief for parole engineer Rashid, especially when the case has been going on against him and he has been lodged in Tihar Jail for a long time. The court ensured that Rashid was allowed to participate only in the Parliament session, and he could not attend any other activity. Although the NIA and other security agencies objected to the decision, the High Court pronounced its order in a transparent manner, in which it would be mandatory to follow the instructions given by them. Now it has to be seen whether Engineer Rashid participates in the Parliament session under these terms, and during this time he avoids the activities.
