Former Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Shringla, Ujjwal Nikam, a special public prosecutor in the case of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Bharatiya Janata Party leader C Sadanandan Master and Historian Meenakshi Jain have been nominated for the Rajya Sabha.
The Union Home Ministry said in a notification issued late Saturday that the President nominated these four persons for the Rajya Sabha.
The notification stated, “The powers conferred by the sub-section (A) of Article 80 of the Constitution of India as well as the Presidential members under the section (3) of that Article, to fill the vacancies due to the retirement of the President nominated by the President, the bright Devrao Nikam, C. Sadanandan Master, Harshvardhan Master, Harshavardhana Shringala and Dr. Meenakshi Jain nominate for the Rajya Sabha.
The prestigious 12 persons from various fields are nominated by the President to the Rajya Sabha.
