New Delhi, Aug 29 (IANS) A meeting was held at the Delhi Secretariat on Thursday under the chairmanship of Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai in which the ‘Winter Action Plan’ was discussed. A suggestion to make artificial rain has also come up in this.
After the meeting, Gopal Rai said that experts had suggested artificial rain during winters, when pollution is at its peak in the national capital. He will write a letter to the Union Environment Minister on Friday to hold a meeting with experts from IIT Kanpur and all the concerned departments on this suggestion.
People in Delhi have to face pollution during the winter season. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Delhi is already active regarding this.
The minister told IANS, “The government has started preparing a ‘Winter Action Plan’ for winter in Delhi. To make it a little better than last year, we had called an expert meeting in which more than 50 different experts put forth their views.”
He further said that representatives of 33 departments also presented their views in the meeting. Many suggestions have come up during this period. A joint meeting of all the departments has been called on September 5. All the suggestions will be discussed in it and we will move forward towards finalizing the ‘Winter Action Plan’.
On the question of implementing odd-even in Delhi, Gopal Rai said that this is an emergency case. The government will take a decision on this as per the need.
The AAP leader shared pictures of the meeting on social media platform X and wrote, “Today held a meeting with national and international experts at Delhi Secretariat regarding improving Delhi’s environment and winter action plan.”
