A day after the death of senior tribal leader Shibu Soren, known as ‘Dishom Guru’, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that his father’s fight against injustice will continue.
The Chief Minister also said that after the father’s death, he is going through the most difficult phase of his life.
Significantly, the co-founder of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) breathed his last at a hospital in Delhi at the age of 81, battling the disease.
The CM of Jharkhand wrote on X, “I am going through the most difficult phase of my life, a pillar of the soul of Jharkhand has gone. No book can tell Baba’s struggle, but I take an oath to continue their fight against injustice.”
Soren promised not to let Jharkhand bow down and took an oath to realize his father’s dreams by working for the exploited and poor. The Chief Minister said that he would follow his father’s footsteps to fight against injustice.
Soren said in his long post written in Hindi, “My father’s shadow has risen. He was my guide, my thoughts were the origin of my thoughts. He inspired thousands of millions of Jharkhandis, like a forest protects him from sunlight.”
The Chief Minister also reminded that his father’s debut was “very simple”. He wrote, “Born in a small house in Nemra village, where there was poverty and starvation, but courage.”
Soren wrote, “He (elder Soren) had lost his father in his childhood, but exploitation of landlords burnt such a fire in them, which made him a warrior throughout his life.”
Soren wrote, “When I was a child, I used to ask him: Baba, why do people call you Dishom Guru? Then he used to answer smiling: because I understood his pain and made his fight my own.”
Soren said that the title is neither written in any book nor provided by Parliament – it has come from the hearts of the people of Jharkhand. He said that ‘Dishom’ means society and ‘Guru’ means the way he shows.
He said, “And to be honest, Baba not only showed us the way, but he also taught us to walk on it.”
