Bengaluru, Sep 19 (IANS) The Karnataka police on Wednesday registered an FIR against BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal for making derogatory remarks against Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
The police registered the FIR after the Congress leader filed a complaint against MLA Yatnal under sections 192, 196, 353 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
This complaint was lodged by General Secretary S Manohar at the High Grounds police station on Wednesday. The complainant urged the police to arrest MLA Yatnal.
Manohar said in his complaint, “While speaking to the media, MLA Yatnal had asked which caste Rahul Gandhi belongs to. Was he born a Muslim? Or a Christian? Or a Hindu Brahmin? His parents belong to different religions. His mother is from Italy and his father is a Mughal.”
Manohar said that MLA Yatnal has insulted Rahul Gandhi and his family’s origin by referring to Hindu, Islam and Christian religions. Yatnal had demanded that an investigation should be conducted to find out the real lineage of Rahul Gandhi.
Patil said, “Rahul Gandhi goes to America and makes anti-national statements. He wants to conduct a caste survey, but he does not even know which caste he was born in. He does not know whether he was born a Muslim or a Christian. This should be investigated.”
“If he claims to be a Brahmin, which Brahmin is he? Is he a Brahmin who wears janeu (religious sacred thread)? What kind of Brahmin is he?” Patil questioned and said the Congress MP was like a ‘desi pistol’.
He said, “Rahul Gandhi is like a country-made pistol, nothing will succeed because of him.”
