Many people are expected to kill five houses and a hotel in a landslide due to heavy rains in Longlai city of southern Mizoram. The officers provided this information.
Officials said that the houses and hotels collapsed due to landslides in the border areas of Veng and Chandmari areas of Longalai at around 10:30 pm on Friday night. He said that many people of Myanmar, who were staying in the hotel, are feared to be trapped in the rubble.
Officials said that the volunteers of ‘Young Lai Lai Association’ (YLA), the largest civil society organization of Longlai district, as well as the State Disaster Responent Force (SRDF) and the third Indian Reserve Battalion personnel are engaged in rescue operations. He said that detailed information about the incident is yet to be found. The northeastern state has been receiving torrential rains since Friday, due to which landslides and rock falling incidents have occurred in many places.
