Bhubaneswar, January 6 (IANS). External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reached Bhubaneswar on Monday on a five-day visit to Odisha. He will participate in the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Odisha. This program is being organized in Bhubaneswar between 8th to 10th January.
Jaishankar was welcomed at the Bhubaneswar airport by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida, and former Union Minister Pratap Chandra Sarangi. After this, he went to Eco Retreat in Konark for the night. He is scheduled to visit Konark Sun Temple on Tuesday morning. After this he can also visit the 12th century Jagannath Temple in Puri, Puri’s heritage craft village Raghurajpur, Dhauli Shanti Stupa and Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar.
The External Affairs Minister will participate in the three-day Pravasi Bharatiya Divas starting from January 8. This program will be organized at Janata Maidan. He told the media on Monday, “I am confident that Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be celebrated in a grand manner. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has told me that all preparations have been completed. I am hopeful that the event will be grand in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” will be.”
This event is being held for the first time in the eastern part of India, which clearly reflects the Centre’s commitment to promote the ‘Purvodaya’ project. The objective of this project is the all-round development of states like Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal. Odisha’s rich reserves of minerals and natural resources will play an important role in carrying forward this mission. The state is also making progress in sectors like mining, iron and steel manufacturing, maritime economy, sports, skill and knowledge economy.
The contribution of NRIs will be specially highlighted in this programme. The Indian diaspora has played an important role in promoting Indian culture, values and ethos abroad. Along with this, special exhibitions will be organized on Ramayana, technology and NRIs. The Ramayana exhibition will show how this epic reached the countries of South-East Asia and is still a center of attraction for local people and foreign tourists there.
